We get a stream of computers that have been worked on or looked at by BestBuy's Geek Squad. Systems they say need hundreds (or tens of hundreds) of dollars in parts we repair using only software. Their job appears to be only to upsell you. And we are not the only ones noticing. Their customers are also....
"Geek Squad has a great model. People pay them to fix their computers, they break it worse and wipe out the data. Then the people don't have to blame themselves for the data loss, they can blame Geek Squad."
"Best Buy management has had the worst affect on (Geek Squad) Agent morale and employee retention. They focus only on scorecards, holding Agents responsible for missed budgets even though the in-store sales team is expected to generate 70% of the revenue, rewarding Agents who unnecessarily rape their customers with preposterous upselling..."

BTW, we love the Geek Squad as we get to clean up their messes. It's just too bad that customers end up losing their data and paying twice to get their systems fixed or worse get convinced by the Geek Squad to buy a brand new system (at BestBuy of course) when they don't really need one.
